Reimagining Healthcare in a Guy-Friendly Way®
THERE’S A
DEADLY CRISIS IN MEN’S HEALTH
Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way.
CERTIFIED MEN’S HEALTH EDUCATOR® COURSE
The first and only comprehensive course that focuses on boys’ and mens’ unique health needs and challenges by enhancing “Guy-Friendly” communication skills
Did you know that men and boys in the United States:
Live shorter (by six years), sicker lives than women and girls
Die at younger ages and in greater numbers of nine of the top 10 causes of death in the United States—and at least half of those deaths are entirely preventable?
Are nearly 4x more likely than females to commit suicide?
2-3x more likely to die from alcohol-related conditions or a drug overdose?
%
40% more likely than females to die of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes
%
60% more likely than females to die of COVID
2x as likely to die of liver disease than females
%
Account for over 80% percent of homicide deaths and over 90% percent of workplace deaths?
Why is this happening?
One of the biggest reasons is that boys and men simply don’t feel welcome in—and therefore don’t engage with—the healthcare system.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
HMI’s mission is to fight this public health crisis in two distinct-yet-connected ways
Reimagine and Rebuild
Provide programs, education, training, and advocacy specifically designed to reimagine and rebuild the healthcare system in an inclusive, welcoming, male-friendly way.
Empowerment
Provide support, information, and resources that will empower boys and men to actively engage in the healthcare system.
By thoroughly examining and addressing health issues that affect boys and men, we will be able to maximize their personal health, which in turn will improve the health of their families and the communities in which they live and work.
